What is the ABS < Marathon?

A fun run/walk of any distance that you want to take on! You can do the full marathon route, or anything less…

Are you up for pushing yourself to take on a distance that is challenging for you? Are you down for fun social event to get to know your fellow collaborators in an “outside of work event”?

Whatever you want to make of ABS < Marathon we’re just happy for you to participate in whatever capacity makes it an enjoyable and rewarding day for YOU!

Tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 12th.

Start times and locations vary based on distance and pace.

We recommend you plan your start time/location by working backwards from the finish, based on your estimated pace, so that you can reach the end around 12:00pm (noon).

In 2020, when all the races were cancelled, rather than do the Virtual NYC Marathon all alone, we thought that everyone might want to escape their lockdown for a safe outdoor event. To make this a more inclusive event, we invited everyone to join the run, regardless of the distance you wanted to run (…or walk).

We also debuted with a few relay teams which completed the full distance across a team of sequential runners (BYOB = bring your own baton!). This is a fun way to run as a team to complete the full distance, and we hope to see some relay teams again this year!

2024 will be the 5th annual ABS < Marathon. This year we’re hoping to expand the field, and take this event to the next level. Lace up and come be a part of it!

We’re also hoping to raise money for our non-profit client Pioneer Works. Pioneer Works is an artist and scientist-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit cultural center in Red Hook, Brooklyn that fosters innovative thinking through the visual and performing arts, technology, music, and science.

ABS is pledging to donate $5 for every mile run. You can also elect to donate independently by clicking the “Donate” link below. Please add a note to your gift that includes “ABS < Marathon”.
